Locks of Love is a non-profit corporation that relies on donated ponytails and funds to provide hairpieces to children under 18 with medical hair loss. Most of the children they serve suffer from a condition called alopecia areata, for which there is no known cure. The hairpieces are provided free of charge or on a sliding scale, depending on the family's financial need. Most applicants are financially disadvantaged, and must complete the application process in order to receive a hairpiece. www.locksoflove.org
